How should I store desoldering wick?
Sealed and away from heat. Wick works because of the flux in the braid, and once that oxidises it simply will not draw solder no matter how much heat you apply.
Why does solder paste need refrigerating?
It has a real shelf life and separates at room temperature. Always bring it back to room temperature before opening the jar, because opening a cold jar condenses moisture straight into the paste.
