Can I reuse the original battery adhesive?

No. Stretch-release strips are destroyed by design as you pull them out. Fitting a cell without fresh adhesive lets it move inside the chassis, which stresses the connector flex.

Why not just use double-sided tape?

Because plain tape has no release mechanism. The next technician then has to lever a glued-down lithium cell out of the chassis, which is how batteries get punctured. Stretch-release strips pull out cleanly.

Is this the same as screen sealing adhesive?

No. 2UUL's BA parts are battery adhesive for the battery well; the SA parts are screen sealing adhesive for the display frame. They are different shapes for different jobs.
