Is this the earpiece or the loudspeaker?

The loudspeaker at the bottom of the phone — ringtone, speakerphone and media. The earpiece at the top of the screen is a different part.

Should I replace the speaker before checking anything else?

Clean the speaker grille first. Compacted lint and dust muffle audio and look exactly like a failed speaker. Also check the phone is not still routing audio to a paired Bluetooth device.

What does copy grade mean here?

It is an aftermarket module rather than a genuine Apple one. It restores the function at a lower cost, but peak volume and tone may not match the original exactly.
