Will Face ID still work after replacing the front camera?

Face ID depends on the dot projector and flood illuminator, not on the selfie camera. Transfer those original components across carefully and Face ID is unaffected. Damage them and it cannot be restored — they are paired to the phone at the factory.

Does this need soldering?

No. It is a plug-in module — a screwdriver and pry-tool job.
