Manufacturer description

Cotton buds shed. On an optical surface that means you finish the clean by leaving micro-fibres exactly where you were trying to remove dust, which is why these use high-density open-cell polyurethane foam heads instead. The heads are thermally bonded — heat-fused directly to the polypropylene shaft with no commercial glue involved. That construction is what lets you dip them in isopropyl alcohol or lens fluid without the adhesive dissolving and streaking across the surface you are cleaning.
