How do I check if my tweezers are magnetised?

Touch the tips to a loose screw on the bench. If it lifts or even twitches, they are magnetised and should not go near a powered board.

How do I keep the tips sharp?

Only ever grip with them. Using tweezers as a pry tool or a screwdriver splays the tips permanently, and once splayed they will not lift small parts again.
