Precision drivers and tweezers for phone repair. Tip accuracy is the whole specification on both: an oversized driver tip rounds a screw head on the first turn, and tweezer tips that only almost meet will flick a small component across the bench instead of lifting it.
A torque-limiting driver is worth having if you reassemble phones daily — chassis threads are cut in soft aluminium and strip easily, and once stripped a bracket never clamps properly again. For tweezers, keep a rough pair for prying and fine or ceramic tips for placing components and holding parts while soldering.
Because phone screws are small enough that a slightly oversized tip or a wobbling shaft rounds the head on the first turn. A rounded head turns a ten-minute job into a drill-out extraction.
Steel sinks heat straight out of the joint you are trying to make and will short across pins if it slips. Ceramic does neither.
Touch the tips to a loose screw. If it lifts or even twitches they are magnetised, and a magnetised tip drops unseen steel swarf onto boards.
